I know you all have activities which relate to COVID-19.
There has been a great deal of discussion in public health service and research worlds beyond vaccines and modelling about the concern that inequalities and challenges to many in society will be hugely exacerbated by the pandemic. I personally have been working with the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) Health Inequalities Advisory Committee on this, and wanted to highlight the recent article by Michael Marmot, special adviser to RCP on inequalities, as a follow on from his updated report.
The key messages are that we must do all we can as a research community to support emerging from this crisis in an inclusive, more equitable way whatever the challenges. And also in a way that supports sustainability within and across global communities and our global ecosystems.
My best wishes to you all,
Co-Chair, Cambridge Public Health
