In late October a team of SPHR researchers hosted an evaluation workshop with local public health practitioners and policy makers at Herschel Smith Building in Cambridge. This was expressly designed to help both engage with evidence-based public health to inform future decisions making.
After a short introduction, Louise Lafortune gave a talk on the validity of evaluation, tackling what makes a good evaluation question and investigating processes and outcomes. Afterwards Stefanie Buckner discussed logic and intervention mapping. Both talks were punctuated by exercises on choosing evaluation questions and designing evaluations. Dr Raj Lakshman rounded out the workshop with an update on SPHR Evaluation Guide and its importance going forward.
