Our Constituent Units and Research Groups
The Institute is a strategic partnership between the NHS, MRC and the University, and there are a number of units and research groups under these different institutions, which are described in this section.

The University contingent sits under the umbrella of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care, which is composed of:
- Ageing and Neuroscience
- Cancer Research UK Genetic Epidemiology Unit
- Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit (CEU)
- Centre for Applied Medical Statistics (CAMS)
- Clinical Gerontology (including EPIC and CNC)
- General Practice and Primary Care Research Unit (GPPCRU)
- International Health Research Group
The Institute includes as members three Medical Research Council units:
- MRC Biostatistics Unit
- MRC Epidemiology Unit (also a member of the Institute of Metabolic Science)
- MRC Human Nutrition Unit
The NHS members are:
- Public Health England (PHE) – Knowledge and Intelligence Team
- Regional Epidemiology Unit of the Health Protection Agency (HPA)
- The Eastern Cancer Registration and Information Centre (ECRIC)
The Foundation for Genomics and Population Health (PHG Foundation) is the first charitable status member.
